Bollywood is recognized in common knowledge as a vibrant and varied tradition marrying music and dance both.

This marriage, however, also includes the heart of popular Indian cinematic canons; creating visions of joy and narratives of love in a freshly inherited postcolonial era: a source of comfort for the masses. It is, therefore, a tradition of music and dance, but also of poetry, spirituality, multiplicity, worship, and most importantly, community.

This course is introduced to welcome interested beginners to this spirited world, where this heritage can be accessed through dance. It is designed to center a choreography, through which students will be exposed to the language that informs Bollywood’s grandiose anthems, and also learn about the 108 mudras (hand gestures) that are imbued in the dance for elemental balance within.

It is open to all ages, all genders, and all experience levels. This class prioritizes and welcomes inclusivity, reverence for the form, and most importantly: release, enjoyment, and playfulness!

What you will learn:
- Bollywood choreography.
- Hand gestures.
- The beautiful traditions and background of Bollywood dance.
