Language: Dutch. English-speaking participants welcome.

Do you already have some dance experience? Then this course might be right for you. You will learn two choreographies to music within the urban genres such as hiphop, house, dancehall and more. The pace of these classes is high, so you will learn more choreograpies.

A class consists of a warm-up, learning a piece of new choreography, reviewing and improving dance phrases from the previous week, and a cool-down. We are working towards a final presentation (participation is not mandatory). The focus of this course is to have fun and express yourself through dance!

What you will learn:

  • (Quicker) picking up choreography
  • How to express yourself through dance
  • Becoming physically stronger
  • Increased awareness of your body, resulting in a greater presence/stronger stage presence
  • Dancing as a group (focused on how to bring a choreography to life, what to pay attention to as an individual dancer when performing as part of a crew)
Sample choreographies can be seen here.

Urban dance
The term Urban dance allows the freedom to incorporate different styles and choreographies in the classes. Much of the music and dance originates from the hiphop scene, but it is interspersed with movements from other styles such as feminine, house, and dancehall. You can expect a mix of these styles during the course. Depending on the song, the choreographies can have flowing or more edgy, precise movements.
