Entry requirements: at least six months of dance experience.

Have you ever danced before or taken dance classes in the distant past, and do you want to further explore the urban style? Then this course is perfect for you! You will learn two choreographies to music within various urban genres such as hiphop, dancehall and more.

Each lesson includes a warm-up, learning a piece of choreography, reviewing the choreography from the previous week, and a cool-down. We will work towards a final presentation (participation is not mandatory but highly enjoyable!). The focus of the classes is on having fun while dancing and daring to express yourself through movement.

What you will learn:
  • Faster) picking up choreography
  • How to express yourself through dance
  • Becoming physically stronger
  • Greater awareness of your body, resulting in a more commanding and powerful presence
  • Dancing as a group (focused on how to execute a choreography effectively, individual dancer awareness when performing as a crew)
Example choreographies can be seen here.

Urban dance
The term Urban dance allows for incorporating different styles and choreographies in the classes. Much of the music and dance comes from the hiphop scene, but it is combined with elements of feminine, house, and dancehall movements. You can expect a mix of these styles during the course. Depending on the song, the choreographies may have flowing or more robust, precise movements.
