Entry requirements: experience with improv or theater is desirable but not necessary.

Strong characters and layered personalities add color to a scene. But how do you convincingly portray an angry restroom attendant or quickly develop a believable police officer? This course is for you if you want to delve deeper into character work, whether for your own improv practice or to broaden your repertoire as a theater actor. You don't need to be an improv comedy actor; all you need is the willingness to improvise! Throughout this course, you'll be provided with tools in each lesson to help you create characters.

What you will learn:

  • The differences and similarities between characters and personalities.
  • Ways to physically transform into your character.
  • Playing with status and power.
  • Empathizing with characters.
